Wanakena is a small hamlet located in the town of Fine, St. Lawrence County, New York. It is situated near the western edge of the Adirondack Mountains, on the southern shore of Cranberry Lake. The community was founded in the late 1800s as a logging town, and it contains a number of historic buildings and landmarks, including the Wanakena Ranger School, which is part of the State University of New York. Today, Wanakena is known for its natural beauty, outdoor recreational opportunities, and its thriving arts and culture scene.
